Hey guys,
When my friend tells me to bet big, I follow his advice (I posted one of his big bets a couple of days ago which hit big) and today he has a 5 dime bet on San Jose Sabercats -8 (buying the hook) in Arena Football 6:30 Eastern.

This is what I am playing on BestUSBook.com:
STRAIGHT BET
[105] SJ SABERCATS -8-120 (B+½)
RISK/WIN: 600/500

Good luck to all.:dancefool

gl jrd ... as much as I agree I cannot bet this game. On guru's site every person picked the Sabercats to cover...not one person was on the home team

Yea man, I know it isn't a dark-horse pick, but I gotta trust my buddy because when he goes big he usually wins. I've lost before on his big plays, but this year I am way up on big bets, like 8-2, and as you know, it's a lot easier to bet big when you are up big. Good luck to all

Yea, should have been a winner, but I can't complain. I think my girlfriend jinxed me on this one when she said "What purse are you going to buy me with that $500?"

It’s not bad being the Guru right now. I just rolled off another 6-2 week, which put me back in front of the “Arena Guru” of AFO. My record of only two people beating me on a week remains in tact. I’m closing in on the best record in this competition. My Orlando Predators swiped a victory from my personal nemesis, the Georgia Force.

Oh, and I get to serve out a bunch of humble pie to an unnamed SaberCats fan who has made fun of me about saying the Dallas Desperados are going 19-0 all season. Now that your Cats have lost to Dallas without Clint Dolezel, how does it feel my green and gold glasses-wearing friend?

Meanwhile, the 8-Ball had another miserable week, going just 2-6 and dropping to 9-23 on the young season. How’s the pick of Columbus to win the ArenaBowl look for you now, Mr. 8-Ball?

Though no one beat me this weekend, props go out to four of you who successfully matched my 6-2 mark from a week ago. You should be proud of your feeble attempts to beat me, and know that you would’ve made a lot of money had you flown to Las Vegas last week. Honors go to phillysoul04, InsideSix, Rush43, and es46ne10.

Disclaimer:
This information should be used for entertainment purposes only. Should you choose to actually lay real money on these games, that’s purely your choice, and neither I nor ArenaFan are responsible. All lines are courtesy of Olympic Sports as of Thursday evening.

Arizona Rattlers (+14.5) @ Chicago Rush: All residents of Arizona, please be on the lookout for the following signs: “Missing: Siaha Burley. If found, please contact Jeff Smoker at 1-800-NOSCORE.” Coming into last week’s game with the New York Dragons, Smoker had run eight TD drives on the season. Not bad, except for the fact that the Rattlers had been stopped on the other 13 possessions he led. I really don’t care that he went 22/31 against a lousy Dragons team. Let’s see what the nasty Chicago Rush defense can do. This one should get ugly early.

Here was ArenaGuru's pick for the game. Hopefully, you got a push at -8. I got it at -9. He said he was trying to be funny and not serious about the pick.

San Jose SaberCats (-8.5) @ Kansas City Brigade: The quote of the week was actually made last week by Brigade Head Coach Kevin Porter. “You look at our division, and everybody has at least one loss, and Chicago and Colorado play this week, so one of them will two. We’re in good shape.” Yep Coach, you’re in good shape all right. After watching a QB in his first career start (James MacPherson) drop 92 on you, do you still think you’re in good shape? Oh yeah, the defending champs are coming to town, and they can’t be in too pleasant of a mood after losing at home to Dallas last week. How does that big contract of Porter’s look now to Brigade fans? If James MacPherson can drop 92 on you, how many points is Mark Grieb going to put up?

Guru’s Pick: SaberCats 108-50

This was not an unlucky push for SJ backers with -8 (like me). It was a LUCKY one. SJ offense HORRIBLE. Had 5 possessions (not including the last one) without a TD, after GR had put up 92 on them last week.

If not for kicker Haglund, SJ likely LOSES OUTRIGHT. Haglund makes all XPs, makes all 3 FG's (one from fairly long range), and recovers his own kickoff off the bar a half yard before it hits the wall, which would have made it KC ball.

VERY fortunate push at -8. Not often do you lay 8 and score only 44 and not watch your money fly away.

it was a good wager but san jose just played awful. 2 interceptions in arena football usually is a sure fire ticket to a loss.

they looked awful,it may the last time I take them this year with the spread if its high ,it took them awhile to get tuned up in the season over the past few years but they are only 3-2 and their wins are against some sub par teams.

they should have won this game by 30.The Brigade is atrocious.

cheers

Couple things...

Dr. T: Respectfully, please DO NOT directly cut and paste my article into this forum or on any other forum. That's infringement on ArenaFan's rights, as I am technically "an exclusive" to ArenaFan. Linking up is just fine, but under no circumstance can any of my writing be copied and pasted into anything other forum aside from that of ArenaFan.

Second of all... Whoever said that there was no way they could take SJ because EVERYONE on the message board was on San Jose was DEAD ON. I knew once I looked and saw NOBODY was on SJ what the outcome was going to be. LA was a fairly consensus pick as well.
